Description: In 2019 San Francisco revealed the Crosstown Trail. I led the club hiking that trail from the southeast of the city near Candlestick Point to the northwest at Land's End. In 2024 San Francisco revealed the Double Cross Trail, It's the counterpart of the Crosstown Trail. The Double Cross Trail goes from the southwest of the city at Fort Funston to the northeast at Telegraph Hill and Pier 23 by the Embarcardero. Come with me as we explore this newly designated urban hiking route across San Francisco. Highlights along the route include Lake Merced, Stern Grove, Twin Peaks, Mt Olympus, Duboce Park, Alamo Square, and Nob Hill. For hike information, see  https://crosstowntrail.org/double-cross-trail/. As this hike is across the city, you will have opportunities to leave the hike early if you want and connect to Muni to go on your way.

Please note that this hike is one way. I recommend that people not drive and park at the Fort Funston starting point. The Muni 58 bus goes closest to the hike starting point. The bus runs between Stonestown and the Daly City BART and goes around the west side of Lake Merced. The Double Cross Trail website advises 58 Muni bus to the stop at John Muir Dr and Skyline Blvd., 15-minute walk to trailhead. 58 bus route map is at https://www.sfmta.com/media/32368/download?inline. The F line and the Embarcadero Muni/BART station will be near the hike end.

Dogs: Dogs are welcome. As it's a city hike, probably best for the dogs to remain on leash.

Bring/Wear: lunch, snacks, water, layers, hat, good walking shoes, sunscreen, payment for riding to/from the hike.

Rain Policy: Check with hike leader if weather is questionable.
