Description:  The hike more or less follows the AllTrails route 'Ringtail Cat Trail to Calaveras Ridge'. We'll start from the Ringtail Cat Staging Area in Alamo. We'll be hiking up the Ringtail Cat Trail through a riparian forest along a creek and onto the Madrone Trail through oak woodland. The hike continues on the Corduroy Hills Trail and onto the Las Trampas and Calaveras Ridge, returning on the Del Amigo, Virgil Williams Trail, and back onto the Madrone and Ringtail Cat Trails. Parts of the hike are steep and although the trails and fire roads are well drained, there are small patches of the legendary East Bay mud. I scouted this hike in a break between storms and didn't have any problems. There are wonderful views in all directions and you can hike for miles without seeing another soul.  Here is an AllTrails link to the proposed route

Bring / Wear:  lunch, plenty of water, snacks, layered clothing, personal 1st aid kit hat, sunscreen, sun glasses, poles (if desired), sturdy boots/footwear.   

Weather Policy:  Canceled in the event of heavy rain. 

Pet Policy for this hike: Dogs allowed.

Ready to join the hike?  Here are the meeting options:

• SF Meeting Location:  Whole Foods (map) @ 2001 Market Street.  Meet on the Dolores Street side.  There's parking on the street.

SF Meeting Time:  8:45 AM (departure shortly thereafter).

• East Bay Meeting Location:  Rockridge BART station (map).  Meet at the bottom of the escalators.  There's free and ample parking.

East Bay Meeting Time:  9:30 AM (departure shortly thereafter).

NOTE: You will be contacted if have indicated that you need a ride or can take passengers.  If you need to contact me for whatever reason, please do so before Friday @ 3:00 PM the day before the hike.  Please only show up at Whole Foods or the Rockridge BART station if you have a ride arranged ahead of time.                    Please note Carpool Fees below.

Trailhead Meeting Location: Ringtail Cat Staging Area, Alamo (map) Carpooling is highly encouraged - this is a very small lot that fills up quickly. Alternatively, park on the  street.  Please try and carpool.
