Description If you take the name Little Yosemite too literally, you'll be disappointed by this hike. There is no granite scoured clean and polished by glaciers, no hanging valleys with waterfalls. The park is an ancient sea bed lifted over millions of years by the slow and persistent migration of tectonic plates. Many of the hills were cleared for grazing and terraced by the movement of cattle. We will be circling the park, hiking fire roads and trails through all these features including a recovering Spring 2024 fire zone. There is also a chance to see how trails are scratched across steep terrain with machines, hard labor, and hand tools. Be prepared for a few narrow trails with steep drop offs, possible hot weather, and not much shade.

Bring / Wear:  Bring lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, hat, hiking poles, (if you use them) and sturdy hiking boots. The trails and fire roads are exposed and it could be hot. Check the weather report for that day and dress appropriately. .

Rain Policy:  Canceled in the event of a heat advisory.
