SF Meeting Location Whole Foods @ 2001 Market St. Meet on the Dolores St. side.(There's parking on the street or below the building.

Description: We will be starting at the Willis Evans Trailhead, hike up to the San Geronimo Ridge Fire Road and pass a pygmy forest of Sargent Cypress on a serpentine outcrop. We'll take in the view across the MMWD watershed before descending through a redwood canyon on the Boulder Springs, Contour, and Candelero trails, as well as various streets to Forest Knolls Playground for lunch. After lunch we cross Sir Francis Drake Boulelvard and hike the Schoolhouse, Thorner Memorial, and Roy's Redwoods Loop Trails where there is a small grove of old growth redwoods. We'll cross Sir Francis Drake again to San Geronimo Commons, a former golf course in the process of being returned to a wetland and habitat for spawning salmon, before returning to our cars.

Bring / Wear: Please bring water, lunch, a hat or sunscreen for the exposed parts of the hike, hiking poles if you use them, and sturdy hiking shoes.

Rain Policy: Cancelled in the event of rain.

Dogs: The Open Space District allows dogs off leash under voice control on fire roads and requires a 6 ft. fixed lead on trails and city streets. If horses are present on the trail, dogs must be leashed and moved to the side of the trail or road.
