Description: Olompali State Historic Park is an area that was once occupied by the Miwok people, retreating Jesuits, the Grateful Dead and the McCoy Commune (at separate times). There are historic exhibits and recreations of Miwok homes which are interesting to see. Our hike will be a moderate loop along trails that at times will be open with views of the surrounding area, and sometimes shaded by lush trees (oaks, laurel, buckeye). The hike culminates at 1550' Mt Burdell with views of Novato and San Pablo Bay.
Bring / Wear: Please bring plenty of water, lunch, layers and sturdy hiking shoes.
Rain Policy: Cancelled in the event of rain. Contact hikeleader if weather is questionable.
Dogs: "Ayyyyye". No dogs in state parks.
Trailhead Meeting Place: State Park Parking lot for which there is a $8.00 parking fee unless you have a CA State Parks pass. From SF, take Hwy 101N to Exit 463 for Atherton Ave, turn left onto Atherton Ave and cross over freeway, then immediate right onto Redwood Blvd. Proceed 2.4 miles to park entrance on the left.
