SF Meeting Location: Whole Foods @ 2001 Market Street. Meet on the Dolores Street side. (There's parking on the street or below the building).
SF Meeting Time: 9:45 AM (departure shortly thereafter).
East Bay Meeting Location: Rockridge BART station. Meet at the bottom of the escalators. (There's free and ample parking).
East Bay Meeting Time: 9:55 AM (departure shortly thereafter).
NOTE: Please only show up at Whole Foods or the Rockridge BART station if you have a ride arranged ahead of time (see Carpool Fees below).
Description: Bald Hill in Marin County has some of the best views anywhere in the Bay Area. Starting in Fairfax, we'll take the multi-switchback Deer Park trail, and then the steep Worn Springs fire road up to the summit, where we'll have lunch with 360 degree views. Continuing down the fire road to Phoenix Lake, we'll then climb back up to the ridge on the scenic Yolanda trail. Six points trail back down to Fairfax is in deep shade.
Bring / Wear: Water, lunch, layers for a spring hike, sunscreen since much of the hike will be exposed.
Rain Policy: Hike will take place rain or shine.
Dogs: Yes, dogs are allowed.
Trailhead Meeting Location: We'll meet at Deer Park School in Fairfax. Take 101 in Marin to Sir Francis Drake Blvd, and follow that to Fairfax. Just before the Fairfax theater, turn left, then right, and then left again on the Bolinas Road. At Porteus turn left and follow the road to Deer Park School.
