Mileage:  6 OR 11 miles

Description:  This is a great park, close to the city, in Pacifica.  There are several hike options. I'll make sure all options are available.
The shorter option is about 5.75 miles and under 1200' elevation.  We'll all be doing this loop which takes us up Valley View and Hazelnut Trails.  Hazelnut has about 20 gradual switchbacks that will take us up to a spectacular ridge that overlooks the Pacific as well as Montara Mountain.  After this loop we'll all have lunch.  The 2nd loop takes us on single-track trails on the Old Trout Farm and Montara Mountain Trails.  I'd recommend doing the full loop if you can.  A small group of us did it last year and loved it.  When you reach the end of the trail, you'll be rewarded with unreal views that include Mt. Tam, Point Reyes and the Monterey Peninsula.  A shorter option for this second loop is also an option - it's about half the length.
The really interesting thing about this area is that since it gets the coastal fog and salt breezes all year, there's always something in bloom.
Sorry, dogs not permitted in the park.

Bring / Wear:  Please bring plenty of water, lunch, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes and hiking poles if you use them.  And layers for a coastal hike.  And chocolate!!

Weather Policy:  Check with hikeleader in the event of questionable weather.

Trailhead Meeting Place: Take CA 280 South until the Hwy 1 exit.  Take Hwy 1 all the way down to a large intersection with dedicated left turn lanes: Linda Mar Blvd.  Take Linda Mar to the end - Oddstad Blvd.  Turn right and into the parking lot for San Pedro Valley Park. There is a $6 parking fee.
