Description:  We'll start this somewhat ambitious but rewarding hike in Sibley Volcanic and climb up towards Round Top (yes, an old volcano) which, BTW, can be seen across the bay from SF.  From just below Round Top we'll descend down to San Leandro Creek before climbing back up through Huckleberry Botanical where we'll make a loop.  We'll stop for lunch atop Manzanitas Barren where we can enjoy wonderful views of the two preserves.  After lunch we'll continue through Huckleberry and descend back down to San Leandro Creek and then back up where we'll loop around Round Top before returning to our cars.  The hike is mostly shaded with the exception of our lunch spot and the last 30 minutes or so of the hike.

Bring / Wear:  Bring water, good hiking shoes/boots, hat, sunscreen and lunch.

Rain Policy:  Hike will be cancelled or postponed.

Dogs:  Sorry, dogs are not allowed in the Huckleberry Botanical Regional Preserve.

Are you up for the hike?  If so, here are the meeting options...

• SF Meeting Location:  Whole Foods @ 2001 Market Street.  Meet on the Dolores Street side.  (There's parking on the street or below the building).

SF Meeting Time:  9:30 AM (departure shortly thereafter).

• East Bay Meeting Location:  Rockridge BART station.  Meet at the bottom of the escalators.  (There's free and ample parking).

East Bay Meeting Time:  9:45 AM (departure shortly thereafter).

NOTE:  Please only show up at Whole Foods or the Rockridge BART station if you have a ride arranged ahead of time (see Carpool Fees below).

• Trailhead Meeting Location:  We will meet at the Old Tunnel Road Staging Area.  There are two (2) small, separate parking lots...one with 6 spots, the other with 7 spots (carpooling is encouraged).

Trailhead Meeting Time:  10:00 AM (hike begins at 10:15 AM).

NOTE:  There is parking on Fish Ranch Road, but it is an additional 3/8-mile walk up to the Old Tunnel Road Staging Area.

Total Driving Distance (round trip):  33 miles (SF), 8 miles (Rockridge BART).

Carpool Fees (per passenger):  $6* (SF), $2 (Rockridge BART).

*Includes bridge toll.
