Description: To avoid the heat this past summer, I spent time exploring the trails in Point Reyes. I would like to take you to one of the most peaceful sections of the most beautiful park in the Bay Area. Stunning views all day. From the Inverness Ridge Trailhead off of Limantour Rd., we'll be following the Bayview Trail to Inverness Ridge before descending through Bishop Pine forest at Drake's View down to the Muddy Hollow Trail and Limantour Marsh. We'll have lunch at gorgeous Limantour Beach. On the return we'll hike along the beach to Coast Camp, then up Sky Camp back to the parking lot. (Dogs are not allowed in the National Seashore.)
Bring/Wear: Sturdy hiking shoes, sunscreen, lunch, snacks and LOTS of water and layers (Pt. Reyes weather is always unpredictable).
Rain Policy: Canceled in the event of heavy rain.
Trailhead Meeting Place: Inverness Ridge Trailhead Parking off Limantour Rd. Exit 580 or 101 at San Anselmo/Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Take Sir Francis Drake all the way to where it meets Hwy 1 in Olema (~15 miles). Turn right (north), and almost immediately you'll see the sign that points you to the left onto Bear Valley Rd. Continue past the turnoff to the Visitor's Center on Bear Valley Rd. until you come to the first intersection. Turn left onto Limantour Rd. Continue for about 4.5 miles until you see the turnoff to the left for Inverness Ridge Trailhead. Google Maps Link
