Meeting Place: Glen Park BART Station, Bosworth and Diamond Sts (on the circular brick plaza outside the station)
Rating: Level-3
Mileage: 7+ miles
Elevation Gain: 1300'
Description: I've led a version of this hike a couple of times before (it's my favorite SF city hike). This version has some added twists and turns. And, if you like views.........we'll pass through Fairmount Open Space, Billy Goat Hill, Dorothy W. Erskine Park, Mt. Davidson, Glen Canyon, among others. We'll be going up and down on stairways quite a bit - the reason for the elevation gain. The Harry St. Steps is/are by far the winner with several runners up. Mt. Davidson is the highest peak in San Francisco; from the big concrete cross at the top (used to be visible for miles, but is now obscured by eucalyptus trees) we'll head down Glen Canyon parallel to Islais Creek, eventually returning to the BART station via the Glen Park Greenway.
Bring/Wear: Lunch, snacks, plenty of water, sunscreen, layers and hiking shoes.
Rain Policy: Contact hike leader if weather is questionable
Carpooling Fee: $6 from Rockridge BART; MUNI from SF. (Please make sure you've arranged to be picked up at Rockridge before showing up.)
