Description: Coyote Hills Regional Park along the southeast side of San Francisco Bay is a wonderful place to see shorebird life and marsh habitats during autumnal bird migration. (Bring your binoculars!!!) We will start with a short walk through the inner marshes, then cross over Red Hill to the bayside of the hills before entering the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge along the salt evaporation ponds and breakwater near the open bay. We return along Alameda Creek to Coyote Hills before ending at the Visitor Center. Leashed dogs are not allowed in the wildlife refuge.

Bring / Wear: Water, lunch, sturdy shoes, layers of clothing (the bayside can be windy), binoculars (if you want to bird watch) and sunscreen

Alternate Meeting Place #2: Coyote Hills Regional Park Visitor Center. Driving directions from SF: US 101 S to Marsh Rd/Dumbarton Br (Exit #406 in Redwood City) and turn left onto CA 84 eastbound; follow signs for Dumbarton Br; cross bridge and take first exit, Thornton Avenue/Paseo Padre Pkwy and turn left; continue on Paseo Padre Pkwy 1.2 mi, left onto Patterson Ranch Rd to kiosk ($5 entrance fee) and to visitor center parking lot at end of the road.
From East Bay: I-880 to Decoto Rd/Dumbarton Br exit (Exit #21 in Fremont) and turn west onto CA-84 W toward Dumbarton Br; west 1.8 mi to Thornton Avenue/Paseo Padre Pkwy and turn right; continue on Paseo Padre Pkwy 1.2 mi, left onto Patterson Ranch Road to kiosk ($5 entrance fee) and to visitor center parking lot at end of the road.
