Description: It is auspicious to circle a sacred mountain. Give your karma a boost by circumambulating Mt. Tam. The course is designed to be mostly on single track trails, incorporating all of the mountain’s microclimates, including deep forest, along streams, chaparral, and stunning views in every direction. There is only one fairly steep ascent, and only about ½ mile long. Most of the route consists of gradual uphill, downhill, or rolling terrain.

Bring/Wear: Bring water, lunch, layers for a winter hike, hat and sunscreen for the sunny portions. Hiking poles would be useful.

Rain Policy: Rain may alter or shorten hike 

Driving Distance: 44 miles total, there and back

Total Bridge Tolls and Entry Fees: $7.00 Bridge toll

Car Pool Fees: $7.00 per passenger

Alternative Meeting Place: Rock Spring parking lot on Mt. Tam. From highway 101 in Marin County, take the highway 1 turnoff, and continue uphill until the turnoff to Mt Tamalpais at Panoramic Highway. Continue uphill until Pantoll ranger station, and then continue uphill to the right on Pantoll Road.
