Description: John McLaren Park is SF's second largest park. It now has a wonderful, relatively new trail system. We'll be taking the Philosopher Way Trail which circles the interior of the park. From different parts of the trail there are views in every direction. We'll hike through forest, grassland and chaparral. Midway on the loop we'll take city streets to the wonderful new Visitacion Valley Greenway. It cuts down through 6 blocks with some wonderful paths and plantings. Then we'll return to McLaren Park to complete the loop. Then, before returning to the BART Station, we'll detour to visit the Sunnyside Conservatory, hike up to the next street behind it, and then return to BART. If you'd prefer to cut out the last section, the round trip would be a bit over 5 miles. Otherwise it's 6.
