Description:  We'll begin by heading towards the Black Oak Group Area, then follow the Waterfall Loop Trail, with side trips to Black Rock Falls, Basin Falls and Upper Falls. We’ll continue along Contour Trail, turn right on Alec Canyon Trail (steep) and continue all the way until the trail ends at a waterfall. We’ll make a side trip to Triple Falls as well and return via Alec Canyon Trail to the starting point (Black Oak Group Area). The seven small waterfalls five of which are named are the main attraction of this portion of the hike which, if there have been recent rains, makes its one of the best hikes in the Bay Area. Bring: Lunch, water (at least one liter), hat and sunglasses, sunscreen, windbreaker. Hiking/sturdy shoes are recommended and hiking poles may be helpful. Much of the hike will be in the shade. There is poison oak and the trails are narrow in spots so prepare accordingly.

Alternative Meeting Place: Alternate meeting place: 10:15am at Uvas Canyon County Park parking lot. Take 101 or 280 south to Route 85 in Cupertino. Follow Route 85 south past Route 17 and exit at Almaden Expressway. Take Almaden Expressway south until it ends (at Harry Road). Turn right, then after a few hundred feet turn left at the stop sign onto McKean Road. Follow McKean Road (which becomes Uvas Road) for about 10 miles. Turn right onto Croy Road (there is a directional sign for the Park). Continue 4.4 miles on Croy Road, through Sveadal, to reach the Park entrance. Sveadal is a private resort belonging to the Swedish American Patriotic League. Please respect their privacy and drive slowly as you pass through Sveadal. Park in the first lot on the right. The parking permit machine accepts both currency and credit cards. Please advise hike leader if you will be meeting us there.
